Dashboard reboot from LAN or secure virtual network

  1. From the Proto dashboard, click the Power button in the upper right of your screen
  2. Click Reboot
  3. Enter your password

Miner logs get reset when the miner reboots. You will be prompted to export the logs before rebooting.

Email the logs to mining.support@block.xyz for further assistance and hashboard replacement.

    Replace the hashboard

  1. Unplug the miner
  2. Remove the rear fan module
  3. Remove the affected hashboard
  4. Carefully insert the replacement hashboard into the appropriate slot with the baffle (flat surface) facing left and the heatsinks (fins) facing right
  5. For proper alignment, ensure the top edge of the hashboard is inserted into the first slot of each top partition. Be careful not to damage the board edges or components.

  6. Reattach and re-tighten the rear fan module
  7. Plug your miner into its power source
  8. Enter your miner hostname into a browser search bar to return to the Proto dashboard

Hashboard overheating

The hashboard overheating notification is triggered when one or more hashboards reach 75 °C (167 °F).

If your hashboard reaches this temperature, the control board will attempt to restart the affected hashboard up to three times within five minutes, while unaffected hashboards continue to hash.

If the hashboard is unrecoverable, the control board will disable the affected hashboard. To proactively resolve the issue, follow the procedures below:

If the reboot does not resolve the issue, email the logs to mining.support@block.xyz for further assistance.

Hashboard loses power

If you receive a warning notification that your hashboard has lost power, it is likely that your control board has lost communication with the hashboard.

If your miner reaches this state, the control board will attempt to restart the affected hashboard up to three times in five minutes, while the unaffected hashboards continue hashing.

ASICs overheating

The ASIC overheating warning notification is triggered when one or more ASICs reach 115 °C (239 °F).

If your ASICs reach this temperature, the control board will attempt to restart the affected hashboard up to three times within five minutes, while unaffected hashboards continue to hash.

If the hashboard is unrecoverable, the control board will disable the hashboard.

ASIC drawing too much voltage

The ASIC overvoltage notification is triggered by a likely fault in the power supply.

If your ASICs reach this state, the control board will attempt to restart the affected hashboard up to three times within five minutes, while unaffected hashboards continue to hash.

If the hashboard is unrecoverable, the controller board will disable the hashboard.

Fan issues

Fans running slow

The fan warning notification is triggered when one or more fans fall below the target RPM determined by the hysteretic fan tachometer logic.

RPM changes dynamically over a gradient of temperature ranges [temperature°C, fan %] [0.0, 10] [40.0, 30] [60.0, 70] [80.0, 100].

Connection issues

Miner loses connection to a mining pool

If you receive a warning notification that your miner has lost pool connection, check Downdetector to confirm the health of the pool – some pools may experience issues –while others may change addresses inadvertently. Also, check your local internet connection and LAN health.

Your Proto-Miner provides support for 2 additional pools. These pools provide redundancy in the event a connection to the primary pool is lost.

If the connection to your primary pool is lost, the miner will attempt to connect to the available backup pools.

    Clear the notification

To clear the notification, reboot your miner.

Dashboard reboot from LAN or secure virtual network

  1. From the Proto dashboard, click the Power button in the upper right of your screen

Hashboard loses USB connection

If you receive an error notification that your hashboard has lost USB connection, it is likely the control board has lost communication with a hashboard.

If this occurs, the control board will attempt to restart the affected hashboard up to three times within five minutes, while unaffected hashboards continue to hash.

If the affected hashboard is unrecoverable, the control board will disable the affected hashboard.

    First, check the USB connections

  1. Unplug the miner
  2. Remove the top cover
  3. Check the USB connections

If the USB connections are secure, you may attempt a manual reboot.

    Clear the notification

To clear the notification, reboot your miner.

Dashboard reboot from LAN or secure virtual network

  1. From the Proto dashboard, click the Power button in the upper right of your screen
  2. Click Reboot
  3. Enter your password

If the reboot does not resolve the issue, email the logs to mining.support@block.xyz for further assistance.

Miner loses Internet connection

If you receive an error notification that your miner has lost internet connection, the miner will attempt to connect with any available pools configured during onboarding. If the connection to the primary pool is restablished, the miner will continue mining with the same worker name.

Note: depending on the duration of the disruption, some nonces may be lost.

If a connection cannot be established to any pool, the control board will disable all hashboards to conserve enery.

    Clear the notification

To clear the notification, reboot your miner.
